NW MI Libertarians Need Precinct Delegates for August Primary Ballot
Libertarians living in Northwest Michigan are encouraged to file with their county to become a Precinct Delegate for the Libertarian Party. Precinct Delegates will appear on the August primary ballot.
Delegates are needed for Charlevoix, Antrim, Leelanau, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Benzie, Manistee, Wexford, and Missaukee Counties.
Any registered voter can become a precinct delegate, including candidates for other public offices. The only requirement is filing a notarized Affidavit of Identity for Precinct Delegates with your County Clerk by May 8, 2018.
What is a Precinct Delegate?
Precinct Delegates are a quirky aspect of Michigan election law that the Libertarian Party of Michigan will have to deal with in 2018 now that we are a major party.
Under state election law, Precinct Delegates are elected officials whose sole responsibility is to attend and vote at political party county conventions.
Precinct Delegates are internal party positions, and play an indirect role in the nomination of statewide candidates at our Fall Convention
